WHO SAID MULTIPLE PERSONALITY WAS A DISORDER?

My favorite feature in the new MacOS 8 system is the new MultiTask Finder. Now your computer officially acts like it's supposed to-a multiple personality.

You can duplicate folders while opening and working in different programs. I wrote this entire review while processing last weeks traffic logs. A task that usually confines me to my desk all day, but totally limits the work I can get done on my computer. Though I might miss staring at the walls for several hours while the logs are being processed, the new Multitask option is really convenient and congruent with having a productive work day rather than wasting time.

DON'T BE TOO CLEAN

Is there anything wrong with the MacOS 8? Of course! Despite the excellent Installation Assistant, installing this program can be a nightmare for anyone despite their level of computer skills. There is a curious "Clean Install" option at the last step before starting the actual installation process. It's tempting to activate the "Clean Install" option because you are inclined to think "clean" means "good." Well it is good, but you should know all your files in your current system folder will be moved to a folder called "Previous System Folder" so after you restart your computer you won't be able to use anything in your "Previous System Folder" unless you move these items to the new System folder. Are you lost yet?

The Installer also has a problem recognizing previously activated Open Transport configurations, so you end up having to reinstall Open Transport and all the configurations. It also had a problem recognizing AOL configurations, which meant reactivating all the AOL configurations in my computer, which meant having to restart the computer several times before I got it right.

A NEW BEGINNING

The MacOS 8 is a great next step in the progression of system software. It increases the users options, and that's the most important reason why people buy computers in the first place. They want options to complete tasks in the most efficient manner possible.

MacOS 8 is fast and intuitive, leaving less work to be done to complete tasks.

The new Pop-Up Menus, Java ready desktop, On line Information Center, and of course, the MultiTask Finder make the MacOS 8 an enhanced system designed to take computer use into the future one step at a time while re-establishing Apple as the respectable innovators they are despite their pre-Microsoft stock prices.
