STICKY MENUS

Drag and Drop is easier now with the new Drag Indicator which gives you the option of copying, creating an alias, trash, get info and any other appropriate information pertaining to the specific file. All you have to do is hold down the Control key and the menu appears right along side the folder.

MacOS 8 also has Sticky Menus which are really convenient. Sometimes I am working so fast that I am not exactly sure where I am going, or where I just was for that matter. Sticky Menus are designed for users who can't keep their minds at the same pace as their hand and the mouse. The Sticky Menu remains open until you select the menu item, in other words, no more clicking a specific menu so fast it appears and disappears in a millisecond leaving you to remember what it was you were doing in the first place.

CONNECT WITH THE ENTIRE PLANET

If it were possible for the Macintosh to be more user friendly the MacOS 8 figured out some of those possibilities when they designed the On line Information Center and the Internet Set-Up Assistant.

The OS 8 uses hypertext from your favorite browsers so you can access information from the web. OS 8 provides links to other web sites, and automatically keeps an updated list of links to the best MacOS 8 resources.

The Internet Set-Up Assistant guides you through the daunting configuration process by automatically setting your configurations, or leaving the selection process to the more experienced user. The Internet Set-Up Assistant also helps you select a browser, provides internet services, mail service, and integrated internet options.

COUPLE OF THE YEAR

MacOS 8 is also PC compatible. You can run a PC formatted disk straight from your desktop by specifying the platform with the PC Exchange feature. The MacOS 8 translates everything-typeset, font, page layouts, and gifs. Once you are done working on the PC formatted disk you can save it in it's original format. How great is that? It's too often that a computer-less friend starts a personal project on the PC from his day job and needs to finish it after work. Now they can use your Macintosh to do it.
