PLATINUM BLONDE

The MacOS 8 has improved on the visual design of System 7.6.

Gone are the flat gray scale graphics and the boring color choices. In with the MacOS 8 platinum look.

MacOS 8 has a new Color Management feature with a selection of crayons and a color selector. You can turn your cursor into an "eye drop" by holding down the option key and clicking on the color palette to select a unique color from a picture to add a more appealing highlighting shade, desktop color, and frame line. The Color Management function has color palettes and hue selectors so the user can vary the standard colors offered.

MacOS 8 also has a new selection of desktop patterns and a new desktop photograph feature. I opted for the Hawaii Beach Scene, it's the only vacation I'm getting this summer. You can also use one of your own pictures taken with a digital camera , scanned, or choose another MacOS 8 picture provided with the software.

POP TARTS

MacOS 8 has taken file access a big step with Spring Load Folders and Pop-Up Menus. The two new features are so major that I don't think the new system has been out long enough for users to really appreciate how efficient and fast accessing, transferring, and duplicating files has just become.

Now you can drag a file onto another folder and the folder will automatically open so you can place it where you want.

No more double clicking, unless you like double clicking. It's your choice. All the old options are there, but it's best to take advantage of the new ones-get your money's worth.

If you are working on a project that requires moving a lot of files from one folder to another, you can easily create Pop-Up Menus by sliding an open folder window down to the bottom of your screen. Once you place the Pop-Up Menu, a menu tab is automatically created. "So what?" you might be asking. Well, once the Pop-Up Menu has been created all you have to do is drag other folders onto the title tab and the window will automatically pop up so you can decide if it's where you want the folders stored.
