Battersby: How do you feel your audience's response has been?
Brooke: "I think they love the fact that, number one, I took the high road and I kept moving forward and finding these productive cool ways to get myself out there. I think they like being part of this, sort of, 'underdog' groundswell. And they like helping someone that they really believe in who has moved them."
Battersby: Have you noticed an audience increase?
Brooke: "I think that the web has really helped. I think that's because you can have your whole mailing list and you email in one little blip and you're not spending twelve hundred dollars on your mailing. That's huge."
Battersby: Has your mailing list grown?
Brooke: "Oh yes. And I don't have any numbers. I should check the numbers because I don't even know. But, the great thing is that the gigs are all listed on the web site. So someone in Ohio who just saw me will call their friends and say, 'I just saw a show, you just have to go.' It's a great tool for that."
Battersby: When are you going to start touring for Steady Pull?
Brooke: "Probably in March. We'll give it a little time to get going in triple-a radio [format] and then go out on the road."

Battersby: Any interest in returning to a major label?
Brooke: "Not right now! I mean, if a major were to come to the table and make a distribution deal with me where I would own my masters and they would help distribute and somehow share in the upside, but I would control the plan. That I'd talk about. But I have no interest in giving up that much power again."
Jonatha Brooke's new CD Steady Pull is available from www.jonathabrooke.com and most retail outlets.
