April Bowlby Interview
02/07/2012
Get to Know California Girl April Bowlby
“I wish they all could be California girls…”“
While David Lee Roth doesn’t define the “California girl,” I would presume he was singing about the sort of girl that personifies The Golden State’s very best, perhaps a Cali born, stop-you-in-your-tracks bombshell with a bubbly, laidback personality and a natural knack for comedy – a girl like April Bowlby.
Whether she’s a ravishing redhead perfectly cast as the unforgettable recurring character Kandi, Alan’s younger, sexy and ditzy second ex-wife from Two and a Half Men or the beautiful blonde best friend Stacy Barrett from ...

Gavin Rossdale: Front & Center
01/25/2012
Onstage, onscreen, in-person – the limelight looks good on Gavin Rossdale
Interview by Vanessa Pascale, Photo Credit Joseph Llanes
Gavin Rossdale is intoxicating.
Those who grew up with me know how much I adored Gavin at the height of Bush’s reign in the mid-90s. (My schoolgirl affections yielded the frosted message: Happy Birthday, Vanessa Rossdale --atop my 14th birthday cake.) Considering the abovementioned, it’s fair to presume that a tête-à-tête with the man himself might be an overwhelming experience. Surprisingly, soothing is more like it. But should I have expected anything less from the “Everything Zen” creator?

Erika Christensen Interview
01/12/2012
Erika Christensen is exploring new ground --with her role as a mother on NBC’s hit TV show Parenthood, in her pursuit to broaden her range in film
Photo Credit: Mitchell Haaseth , NBC & Art Streiber
Erika Christensen arrives at the Intelligentsia Coffee Bar, in the neighborhood of Silver Lake in Los Angeles, on her bicycle. Fresh faced, her tousled blond hair is pulled up and she is styled in a light blue button-down with its sleeves rolled up, white shorts and chic toffee-hued Tory Burch sandals. Looking very All-American and as if she just stepped out of a Ralph Lauren ad, the look is quite fitting as it is 4th of July weekend. She ...

Brittany Snow Interview
05/25/2011
WARNING: SNOW STORM AHEAD!
Brittany Snow perpetuates a massive movement with Love Is Louder
Images by Tyler Shields
Brittany Snow is the picture of innocence today --an attribute she pulls off quite well, she confesses. The soft-spoken actress is wearing a fitted floral dress, tan boots, and has her hair pulled into a loose side braid. It’s not until she removes her sunglasses that I recognize her out front of Aroma Café in Studio City, where she lives. Known from movies like Prom Night, Hairspray and John Tucker Must Die, it’s hard to overlook Brittany with her girl-next-door appeal, blonde hair and piercing cobalt eyes.
Being in ...

Music: The Rapture
05/13/2011
The Rapture, once an underground dark wave secret, broke through in 2001 with their scratchy post-post-punk sound. It spearheaded a revival, starting in the trendy Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, and later sweeping the nation.
But the shaggy-haired, tight t-shirt wearing, New York-based band, like their contemporaries Interpol, Radio Four, and The Liars, are still plagued by associations with the dime-a-dozen "scene" they founded, and the critical comparisons to influential forefathers, Gang of Four and The Cure. But that did not stop the band, who back in 2003 released their first LP, Echoes, produced entirely on Apple's MacBook.
"How ...

Steve Jobs biography to be published in 2012
04/11/2011
Well, it took some convincing, but Steve Jobs has finally been convinced to participate in the writing of a book about himself. Simon & Schuster announced that the book, titled "iSteve: The Book of Jobs," written by Walter Isaacson, is going to be released in early 2012.
It will be interesting to see how much information the much-respected author will be able to put in this book about Jobs that we don't already know, particularly relating to his recent health concerns. Isaacson was a top executive at CNN and Time Magazine, and has been claimed to be "a perfect match" to Steve Jobs.

Happy birthday Apple
04/01/2011
35 years ago today, Apple was launched by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Since their introduction, Apple has grown considerably, and since Jobs' return has had many milestone products including the "gumdrop" iMac G3, the iPod, Mac OS X, the iPhone, and, of course, the iPad. We are glad you are still 35 years young Apple; keep pumping out those quality products we all know and love.
In addition to today being Apple's birthday, today is also the beginning of a new toy serious by Playmobil. The popular toy company has released a model Apple Store that has little iMacs, little MacBook Pros, little customers, little Geniuses, and even a little ...

Tom Arnold: Making Ends Meet
03/24/2011
Before Tom Arnold was executive producer and a writer on "Roseanne," he was just another regular guy trying to make ends meet.
No, really: Tom Arnold was literally a regular guy making meat. Tom's earliest jobs were at the local Hormel meat plant, and later, in the corn industry in his native Iowa. In addition to those jobs Tom has tried his hand as a box stacker, bartender and bouncer. But it wasn't until Tom performed at a comedy open mic in Iowa that he was bitten by the bug.
Born to modest roots, it was a long, hard road to celebrity for Tom. From Iowa, Arnold migrated to Minnesota, where he ultimately won the Minnesota Comedy ...

Steve Jobs still re-elected despite shareholder qualms
03/24/2011
While it was doubted whether or not Steve Jobs would be re-elected to the Disney board of directors due to his absenteeism, he has still been re-elected by investors. An early count noted by Bloomberg says that 74 percent of votes are for Jobs' re-election.
The folks at Glass Lewis & Co., AFL-CIO, and the ISS probably aren't the most thrilled in the world, and whether or not this will affect Disney's value has yet to be seen. It is doubtful that Jobs will be in any more faithful attendance due to his physical condition, but he is definitely very qualified for the position. Whether or not it makes a difference that he personally owns 7.29 ...

Jobs not welcome on Disney board by shareholders
03/22/2011
Institutional Shareholder Services, a large shareholder group in Walt Disney Company's stock, has spoken out with displeasure at the attendance or lack thereof of Steve Jobs at Disney board and committee meetings. In addition to this, the AFL-CIO union have officially announced that they have voted against Jobs returning to the board for the same general reason.
The group at AFL-CIO cite his medical condition as a reason for not re-electing Jobs. ISS on the other hand is okay with meetings being missed due to illness, but consider his attendance track record as valid reason for occlusion.
While Jobs holds more than 7% of Disney's stock, ...

Apple takes care of their own in Japan
03/17/2011
Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, is still very involved in the workings of Apple despite his medical leave of absence. He is also still very tuned into what is happening around the world, and is doing what one might expect: offering aid to the best of his ability.
An e-mail memo was sent out to all Japanese Apple employees saying this:
"To Our Team in Japan,
We have all been following the unfolding disaster in Japan. Our hearts go out to you and your families, as well as all of your countrymen who have been touched by this tragedy.
If you need time or resources to visit or care for your families, please see HR and we will help you. If you are ...

Rumor: Steve Jobs to make appearance tomorrow?
03/01/2011
Rumors from an Italian website setteB.IT say that Steve Jobs is going to make an appearance at tomorrows iPad 2 event. In addition to these rumors, All Things Digital reports that Jobs is "definitely considering" gracing us with his presence.
Steve Jobs is currently on an indefinite medical leave, so it is hard to say what condition he is in. Even if he is in good enough condition to be at the event, plunging back into the rush for a single event seems a little bit unnatural, although Steve has always marched to the beat of a different drummer.

Jackling House demoed
02/18/2011
Steve Jobs has lived in many different places, but one of his more recent abodes was Jacklin House, a 14,540-foot, 14-bedroom manor designed by George Washington Smith. The large mansion was located in Woodside, CA, around 15 minutes from Palo Alto.
Gizmodo hired a plane to fly over the demo site, and the images are both depressing and exciting at the same time. Steve Jobs has never been particularly nostalgic, so it will be interesting to see what he ends up building in its place.

Video: A young Steve Jobs caught on tape

I stumbled upon this video today, and figured that it might be a nice pick me up to keep you moving on hump day. Either that, or it will make you completely unproductive. Either way, this is a video of a 23-year-old Steve Jobs with an excellent beard getting ready for a TV appearance. Check it out!

MacDirectory chats with Sophia Bush of “One Tree Hill”
“Last night there was such a chill in the air, I got that first exciting moment of Ahhh, I want to put on a coat and a scarf...” Sophia Bush wistfully mused over Los Angeles’ weather, a welcome change from “still hot” Wilmington, N.C. —her home nine months out of the year while filming the CW’s One Tree Hill, on which she portrays adored, feisty fashionista and founder of chic clothing line, Clothes Over Bro’s, Brooke Davis. Steve Jobs named Financial Times' Person of the Year
12/24/2010
Apple's CEO Steve Jobs can add another moniker to his card: Financial Time's Person of the Year. Citing his ability to turn high-tech gadgets into mass-market phenomenons, the newspaper calls Jobs the foremost leader in the tech industry now that Bill Gates has devoted himself to charitable causes.
"Mr Jobs’ first stint at Apple was to last less than a decade. At the age of 30, after a power struggle with a more experienced executive who had been hired to run the upstart company, he was out. But in 1997, a floundering Apple acquired Mr Job’s second company, Next, and within the year he was back in control.
The iPad is the culmination ...
